This morning I had the opportunity to attend an IST meeting at Saw Mill Intermediate School in the Commack UFSD. It felt weird waking up during my winter break at 6 a.m. but I was really happy to have been invited to attend and felt like I learned a lot from observing. Seeing how everything takes place was an excellent experience!

Happy New Year!
Still on winter break so not too much news to report. Prior to the break, I went back to the Franklin Early Childhood Center to visit my pre-kindergarteners! It was so uplifting to see all 18 students again with their smiling faces and once again it was incredibly upsetting to say goodbye to them a second time. I had the chance to speak with my cooperative teacher and the teacher’s assistant and reflect on how my performance was as a first time participant-observer. Luckily, I had nothing but positive feedback. Time permitting, hopefully I will be able to visit back again towards the end of the school year to see how those 3, 4, and 5 year olds have grown!
Also, I was able to finally pick up my Scholastic books I had purchased. Included was Bill Martin Jr’s Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book and an interactive DVD. Also, I got an Eric Carle pack which included seven of his books including Head to Toe.
