Actually when I was younger I wanted to be an author too. I always envisioned doing that on my summers off. I remember writing short stories all the time but I'd constantly challenge everything I wrote so it became less fun as I got older. But I still love to write and it's one of the reasons I just applied to get my master's in literacy teaching children how to read and write :) Thank you so much for your comment, Jamie. Nopotism, mismanagement and corruption were problems when i was a student and I see it's a major problem even today. It always amazed me that in one of the (if not THE worst) performing school districts on LI, the superintendant was a minister with a Doctorate in divinity. Anyway, good luck and you'll find that at that age, they haven't been made cold by the realities of Wyandanch life just yet. They still have hopes and dreams for the most part.
